The MSGP is regulated by state and local environmental agencies, and requires the creation and maintenance of a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWP3). Minimum requirements include:

The MSGP governs industrial stormwater discharges from 30 specific industrial sectors based on SIC codes, designated industrial activities, or the requirement to comply with numeric effluent limits. Compliance with industrial stormwater regulations is critical, and the MSGP management framework outlines these requirements clearly. - Hazardous Sampling Waiver
- Benchmark Sampling Waiver
- No Discharge
